Easyview Direct 2 System Fleet Management
Forklift fleet cost distribution

Typical Cost Distribution for a Forklift Fleet

  • Data retrieved automatically
  • Reports generated automatically
  • Reduces truck damage
  • Reduces fuel costs
  • Increases fleet utilisation
  • Improve safety for drivers and personnel

Davis Derby TruckLOG systems have a well established reputation for reducing the cost of operating MHE vehicles such as forklift trucks, access platforms and sweepers.  The system also increases operational safety for drivers and personnel working in the vicinity of forklift trucks.

Easyview Direct 2 is an essential tool for Fleet Managers. It Monitors, Measures and brings Control to key operation areas of MHE fleets.

The Davis Derby TruckLOG Easyview Direct 2 system is based on proven technology which has been further developed to provide advanced features whilst greatly simplifying installation, commissioning and training requirements for forklift truck fleet operators.

Driver Access Control

The system provides driver access control by means of a digital keypad or by issuing drivers with programmed Smartcards to ensure only authorised drivers can drive trucks. There is an automatic time out feature, which prevents unattended trucks from being operated by unauthorised drivers.

Driver access control ensures that drivers can be made accountable. It provides a flexible structure allowing drivers qualifications to match which truck types and even which departments they can drive in.

Fleet Management

The Easyview Direct 2 system provides detailed but easy to interpret computer generated reports, providing fleet operators with the vital information needed to minimise operating costs associated with trucks and the infra-structure where they are used.

An important feature of EVD2 is the fully automated process, which is designed to deliver pre-defined reports directly to the printer without any manual intervention.

The system ensures that safety for drivers and personnel working in the vicinity of MHE vehicles is significantly improved and that real savings are achieved in the cost of fleet ownership, particularly associated with the reduction of running costs and damage costs.

Safety and Cost Savings

The TruckLOG Easyview Direct 2 system improves safety for drivers and other personnel working in the vicinity of MHE trucks and significantly reduces costs in the following areas:

Safety
  • Ensures that a driver can only operate the trucks for which he is authorised
  • Automatic time-out facility prevents unattended trucks from being driven
  • Faulty trucks can be disabled, except for authorised engineers or supervisors
  • Encourages safe driving practices
Truck and driver utilisation
  • Size of fleet and manpower requirements can be optimised
  • Allows performance of trucks and drivers to be compared
  • Monitors critical events on trucks
  • Monitors downtime
Damage reduction
  • Ensures that drivers become accountable
  • Identify driver training needs
  • Identify drivers responsible for truck abuse
  • Reduce truck damage costs
  • Reduce collateral and infra-structure damage
Maintenance
  • Enables service intervals to be scheduled
  • Monitors hours run for each truck
  • Faulty trucks can have the driver log-on function disabled whilst maintaining access for authorised engineers and supervisors
  • Service period log-out
  • Reports on categories of downtime

Cost Reduction Opportunities

Easyview Direct 2 produces a focused portfolio of accurate, concise reports on key aspects of truck fleet management. It allows Managers to monitor, measure and control costs. These can be achieved in the following areas:

Driver Related Costs

Driver utilisation and activity highlighting lost time when trucks and drivers are inactive.

Truck Capital Costs

Truck utilisation by shift, department or for the entire fleet enabling trucks to be allocated to where they are needed and to optimise the number of trucks required in the fleet.

Fuel Cost

Identify drivers and trucks with excessive idle time (the truck is logged on and the engine is running, but there is no movement of the truck).

The S16 unit incorporates a configurable logoff timer, which switches off the truck if there is no activity reducing wear, pollution and conserving fuel. The log-off timer also increases safety by preventing un-authorised drivers attempting to operate trucks, which have been left unattended.

Damage and Abuse

TruckLOG Easyview Direct 2 software provides simple exception analysis of truck damage attributable to specific drivers.

Abusive driving such as attempting to change the direction of travel when driving too fast, or attempting to engage drive at high engine revs when stationary to be pin-pointed.

Down Time

The TruckLOG system identifies periods of truck inactivity, enabling down time to be recorded in simple to read reports. In addition truck service times can be associated to specific categories such as damage, tyre wear and service.

System Description

The system comprises of a TruckLOG S16 control unit mounted on each truck, which collects and stores the data. A compact RG3 radio base station automatically collects and stores data from the trucks and automatically transfers the data to a remote computer(s) which in turn produce your detailed reports.

TruckLOG S16 Unit

Each truck in the fleet is fitted with a compact S16 unit, which provides the driver interface for logging-on to start the truck. Two versions are available, one has a digital keypad requiring drivers to enter a unique five-digit PIN number to start the truck, the second version requires each driver to be issued with a programmed Smartcard or key fob programmed with the drivers unique identification and the trucks which the driver is authorised to drive.

The S16 unit contains a short range UHF radio transceiver that automatically transmits details about drivers and critical events on the truck to a radio base station when within range.

RG3 Radio Base Station

The RG3 unit is a compact base station unit containing a short-range UHF radio transceiver, a data communications interface and associated electronics.

The unit collects and stores data from trucks in the fleet automatically when trucks are within radio range.

There are versions of the RG3, which connect to a remote computer via an analogue telephone line, a direct cable connection or network.

The RG3 automatically connects to the computer at scheduled intervals to transfer data to computers. In the case of a telephone line connection, an Intelligent Gateway unit type IG3 is required to be connected between the telephone line and the computer running Easyview Direct 2.

Easyview Direct 2 Software

The Easyview Direct 2 software enables a data base of trucks and drivers to be easily compiled, associating trucks to specific departments if necessary and associating drivers to specific departments, trucks or truck types.

The Easyview Direct 2 Software requires a minimum level of training and produces detailed reports on all aspects of fleet management, truck and driver performance.

Support

Davis Derby can provide a comprehensive Installation, Commissioning and Training service.

Notes

Range of the radio base station, typically 100 metres. Network compatibly Ethernet 10Base T.
